Volunteer reflection from Fresh Food Distribution
Volunteer: Weina
What has been encouraging to you as you served ?
Serving in FFD alongside my volunteer partner has been deeply encouraging. During my first session with her, I was especially inspired by her intentionality and courage to ask intentional questions. It created opportunities to move beyond simply delivering food to engaging in meaningful conversations that go beyond the surface.
What is one thing God has taught you through serving?
Even though we serve in Fresh Food Distribution, we don't just pack the food and distribute it. Before each session, we begin with a time of prayer, committing the session to the Lord. It is particularly comforting to recognise that we do not serve in our own strength or eloquence, but that He goes before us, prepares the way, and uses even the smallest interactions for His purposes.
What is a story that comes to mind that has been unforgettable?
The family I visit has kids of varying ages, and I often see the youngest girl as she’s usually the one at home during the delivery. At the end of one visit, she asked, “When will I see you again?”. It was a simple question but one that encouraged me and pointed to the significance of this ministry and our monthly visit in their calendar.
How can we be praying with you for FFD?
My hope for FFD is that the love and care we show to beneficiaries will point to Christ himself who first loved us with an everlasting love, fueling our service unto Him.
