Behold the Lamb of God who Takes Away Sin

Sinners are enemies of God. However, through the vicarious suffering of the Servant, we can have peace with God. Because the Servant was pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities, we are healed of the disease of sin. Because God has accepted Jesus' sacrifice on our behalf, we are accounted righteous in his eyes.

The fourth servant song in Isaiah presents a picture of a hero that is perplexing yet powerful. Centuries before Jesus walked the Earth, these sacred words were penned to show us how while he may not look like the heroes we usually look for, he would be the hero that brings us what we really need.

God's Great Reassurance to His Despondent People

God is one who reassures his people, and desires to use them for his glory even when they display outrageous unbelief towards him and his promises. He has not forgotten his people, and has power to save them. This is seen through his servant who will come to accomplish his will.

Surprised by the God of History

Though we are often confused by his ways, God is the One who works through all of history to fulfill his promises and display his purposes in the world. We are to respond in faith even when it doesn't make sense, believe his Word, and look to him to be saved.

Spiritual Revival for God's People

Distance from God is not his faithlessness to us, but our casual attitude to him. Nevertheless, he deals with our sins and pours out his Spirit upon us, that we might rejoice in him.

The Man Who Made All of Israel Cry

If we want to live lives that please God and serve future generations, we have to constantly remain in faith, but the only one who has perfectly done that is Jesus Christ, and therefore our weak faith needs to rest in his perfect faith and deeds. We can entrust ourselves to him, the perfect King who will not use us or live a self-centered life, but will lay his life down for us.
