WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO US

The Person of Jesus:
We see Jesus as central to all history; as God who made the world, He who upholds the universe by His words, The One for whom the world was created, And He who is the heir of the universe. Truly Jesus is the beginning and the end.

We believe that the only way to know God is by receiving Christ in our hearts through faith as we recognize Him as Lord and Saviour. Truly Jesus is the way.

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, who came to earth and was born of the virgin Mary, who lived a perfect life on earth and died a cruel death at the hands of evil men. This death was the preordained will of God who sent Him to suffer on our behalf, in our place, for our sins, so that we might be reconciled to God. Truly Jesus is the truth.

We believe that the life we now live we life in Christ, that our old man has died with Christ and we have been raised to newness of life in Him. Christ lives in us, which is the hope of Glory. Truly Jesus is the life.

Jesus is the returning King who rules and reigns over His Kingdom. He will judge the nations, silence His enemies, and rule forever. Truly Jesus is Lord.

The Word of God:
The Bible is God’s word to us, perfect and living. We believe it’s every word, we love it’s promises, we take to heart it’s warnings, we obey it’s commands. For this reason we believe in preaching and teaching the Word of God to all of God’s people and applying it to our everyday lives.

People:
People are created by God and will live for eternity. We value all people from all walks of life, and desire for them to come to know our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We believe that there are many ways that we can serve and love people, through acts of kindness and mercy, social upliftment, service, blessing etc. We believe though, that the greatest way that we can love people is to bring them to Christ for the salvation of their souls and the redeeming of their lives.

Prayer:
We are a people who pray, believing that the prayer of a righteous man is effective. We take our worries to the Lord, we ask him for good things and we wrestle through our own struggles and weaknesses in prayer.

Reality:
We do not need to pretend to be something that we are not, because our confidence comes from Christ and not from our own efforts. Therefore we are real about our lives, our struggles, our fears, etc. We make it our aim to be real with those who come to us, not pretending to be something which we aren’t.

The Body of Christ:
Every Christian is a part of the body of Christ, has a function and role, and a part to play. We believe that we should equip and release God’s people to live in the fullness of God’s plan for their lives, by encouraging and nurturing their God given talents and abilities.

The Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is poured into our hearts at salvation and subsequent to that there are times of refreshing and infilling that the Christian should experience. The Spirit points us to Christ, applies His truth to our hearts, convicts people of their sin, Christ’s righteousness, and judgement to come. The Spirit empowers us to witness, leads us as Children of God, works through us and gives spiritual gifts to us for the edifying of the church, comforts us, strengthens us, empowers us to witness, and is the presence of Christ around the world. His work and ministry is as alive today as it was on the day of Pentecost nearly 2000 years ago.

Submission to Christ:
We have recognized Christ’s Lordship over all things, and so we gladly submit our lives to His rule, trusting His ways and living our lives according to His Word. Though an ‘obedience out of fear’ is valid and will result in blessing from God, we believe that true Christian maturity is the ‘obedience of faith’ (Romans 1), that we trust and love God so much that anything He says, we do.

Readiness to Pay the Price:
We are ready to pay the price of discipleship here on earth, knowing that our true home is in heaven. We are pilgrims passing through earth, and our light and momentary afflictions are achieving for us an eternal weight of glory.

Freedom from tradition, but being bound to Christ:
We do not serve God in the old way of the letter through rules, regulations, traditions, religious codes, expectations of men, or acceptable Christian behavior, but rather through the Spirit of Christ who lives in us, points us to Him, reminding us of His words, and leading us day by day.

Family:
We believe that one of the many pictures of the church that the Bible gives us is that of a family. We love, esteem and support each other just like a family would.
We believe in and want to nurture strong families, led by husbands who love, care for, provide for and lead their families. We want to see husbands who are present physically and emotionally and take responsibility for the condition of their families. We want to see wives work alongside their husbands towards these objectives in loving submission and faithful conduct. We want to teach children to honour and obey their parents in the Lord. Our commitment to the local church should not be for an extended period at the expense of our biological families.

In the same vein, those who are unmarried should be holy in body and spirit, devoted and anxious to please God.

Great Commission:
We take Jesus’ command to go to all nations very seriously, being one of the last things that he said. We are a people who have the nations in our hearts, are constantly thinking of the lost in foreign fields, and who long to see people from every tongue, tribe and nation come to know our Saviour.
