What is the church? Scripture describes her as the bride of Christ, the redeemed, the pillar and foundation of truth, the family of God, the body of Christ on the earth, and the key earthly component of God’s plan to reveal his purposes to the world. Indeed the church is glorious, and although flawed, plays the central role on earth of making God’s wisdom knows to rulers, principalities and powers. The church has one leader, our chief shepherd Jesus, who birthed the church by giving His life up for her. Now, as those who have been saved by God, we now lay our lives down for Him, to see His Kingdom come.
In this short series we look at some of the metaphors of the church, exploring what God says about His bride. At Redemption Hill, we don’t just see the church as a weekly gathering of believers, but as the family of God, joined to Him and on His mission together to reveal His glory.
