Habakkuk

Have you ever had difficult questions for God? Have you ever struggled to understand how God allows some things to happen? Habakkuk was a man living in a time of great wickedness in his nation. His honest questions to God about the state of his nation and the apparent disinterest of God led him on a journey from fear to faith. The book of Habakkuk teaches us that questions to God are not wrong (if they are asked humbly) and will lead us to know and understand God in a far greater way. His journey was not a simple one though. The account takes us through a series of questions that Habakkuk has and the answers that God gives. By the end of the book, Habakkuk is rejoicing in God’s goodness. His faith has been strengthened from the beginning where he says “How long O Lord” to the end of the book where he says “though the fig tree shall not blossom… yet I will rejoice in the Lord”.

As you study this book may God take you on journey that exposes fears and uncertainties, replacing them with an unshakable faith in the goodness of God.
