I think the point the article is making is that when it comes to the ‘grand themes’ that clearly define Christianity (and that all churches hold to) is that the gospel is that God became a man, lived a perfect life, died a sinners death on behalf of man, was buried and rose from the dead after three days, then ascended to the Father where He is now, awaiting the day He will return.

The articles point is that many children growing up do not see or understand the gospel, but rather perceive God to simply be a cosmic ‘sugar daddy’ eager to bestow blessings and favors on whoever asks, without understanding His character, nature, holiness, purposes or ways.

    I hope that helps!
