As far as we can see, our vision and mission is essentially the mandate given to all Christians and churches. Christ’s mission is our mission, as revealed in the bible. Our vision statement spells this out, and the mission defines it in more detail. The objectives give some practical markers for us to see how we are doing.
We exist to spread a passion for God
by making disciples of all nations through
the gospel for His glory and the joy of all people.
“We exist”: This shows us why we feel we are alive and why God has called us together to be His people living in Singapore at this time.
“spread”: This helps us understand that we are not here to simply consume or receive teaching but to take what God has done in us and make it known to others.
“passion”: We believe that love and service for God cannot be done in a non-passionate way, therefore the way in which we do these things in with passion.
“disciples”: We desire every Christian at RHC to grow into mature believers in Christ, who know, love, serve and obey Christ fully.
“nations”: Jesus’ command was to make disciples of all nations – so we keep the nations in our hearts and see the local church as the base of operations for the mission of the world?
“through the gospel”: The true gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way that true disciples may be made, therefore we need to teach it with clarity and help people to discover the full implications of it for their lives.
“glory of God”: This is what all of our actions must result in, praise and glory to God!
“joy of all people”: “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him” – the simple facts are the when we find our highest joy and delight in God, He receives most of the glory from us. There is no greater delight in the earth above knowing and delighting in God – we exist so that people find their highest joy in Him.
What we hope RHC will look like in ten years’ time:
We want to have a great number of small groups meeting in every corner of Singapore that are on a mission to reach their neighbors, friends and co-workers. You can help by inviting your friends and family to your home to study the bible.
We want God to have used us to plant many churches within Singapore and throughout Asia. You can help by establishing Community Groups in parts of Singapore that we aren’t strong in, and praying for a local church to be established there. Considering whether God would call you to go and be a part of a church plant in Singapore or elsewhere in Asia.
We want to give of our people, resources and finances by sending our members on short, medium and long term mission trips to other nations for the strengthening of the body of Christ, particularly in Asia. Commit to joining a team that travels to strengthen existing churches. Ask God how he could use your gifts and talents on a trip like that. If you are unable to go yourself, pray about financially supporting someone else to go.
We want to be involved in mercy ministries, tackling the social issues of our day as a response to God’s liberating work in us. We want to minister to drug addicts, prostitutes, the broken and despised, and see them redeemed, set free and made whole in Christ. Could you give some of your time to ministering to those in need in Singapore? We are looking for sustainable ways of getting involved in people’s lives, not just something short term.
We want to be known for radical passionate worship, solid bible preaching, loving community, and a heart for the lost. We want to be fervent in prayer, a joyful, passionate people who love doing what God has called us to. Start praying for your friends and family, invite them to church, and share the love of Christ with them. Your currently unsaved colleague may be a future RHC church planter!
