Church Leadership

Simon Murphy, married to Tarryn
Elder, Staff: Pastor

Simon and Tarryn moved to Singapore in September 2008 to plant Redemption Hill Church. They have a daughter Tyra, a son Rory, and are expecting a third child in 2011. Simon loves preaching and seeing people ‘get’ the gospel, whilst Tarryn enjoys her being mom, being involved in the worship team, as well as overseeing the children’s ministry. Simon’s responsibilities at RHC include preaching, pastoral oversight, and overall leadership of the church.

Ivan Ossa, married to Michelle
Elder

Ivan and Michelle have a great passion: seeing people walking in the fullness of what Christ has done for them, especially a deep personal walk with Jesus, through the Holy Spirit. Together they have been a huge blessing to RHC since they joined mid way through 2009, and have helped RHC become what it is today. Ivan is involved in overseeing Community Groups, as well as many of the organizational aspects of the church, including financial oversight.

Aidan Spencer, married to Niki
Elder

Aidan and Niki Spencer have lived a large portion of their lives in Asia. Niki’s parents uprooted their family in 1990 to go and serve God in Taiwan. Having spent so much time in Asia, they both speak Mandarin fluently. In 2004, they moved to Singapore to start a new life that God had led them towards. They have been involved in new church plants, translation, missions to Asian nations and building worship teams during their time in Singapore. Aidan oversees the worship ministry of the church, as well as being involved in pastoral work.

Tan Huai Tze, married to Cindy
Elder, Staff: Pastor

Huai Tze and Cindy joined RHC in April 2009, desiring to live out their lives in a gospel community that would impact the world. Tze has a deep passion for theology and the power of the Spirit, and wants to see the gospel proclaimed in a greater way in Singapore. Cindy sees her vocation as a doctor as part of God’s call on her life at this time, although she devotes much of her spare time to discipling others. They have a daughter, Caitlyn. Tze plays an important role in overseeing Community Groups, discipleship and teaching at RHC.

Darrell and Cheryl Chan
Deacons

God brought Darrell and Cheryl together in 2004 after 10 years of being mere acquaintances, as during that time, He had been moulding them individually to become the perfect partners in life and service. They have been married since August 2006 and are very excited to become first-time parents in Feb 2012 to a baby boy whose conception and birth date were amazingly revealed to them by the Lord way in advance! Since calling RHC home in 2009, Darrell and Cheryl have found great joy worshipping and serving alongside this family of brothers and sisters, and have seen the Lord work and transform their lives through His Word. Today they lead the youth ministry and serve in the worship team together – ministries which they have had a heart even before they got together – while moonlighting as lawyers during their free time.

Tara Huber
Deacon

Tara has attended RHC since mid 2009, drawn by the strong gospel-centered preaching and sense of community. She serves as a community group leader and on the RHC library team, where she tries to control her desire to take out more books than she can handle. Tara grew up in Singapore but went to the United States to attend college and graduate school. She loves to engage her mind with biology in her position as a biomedical scientist. She has a heart for people to intellectually, emotionally and spiritually know and engage with God. She is excited to be serving as a part of the Diaconate at RHC.

Alex and Keri Mitchell
Deacons

Alex and Keri are from South Africa and moved to Singapore three years ago to help Simon and Taryn Murphy plant Redemption Hill Church. Since they arrived they have been involved in many aspects of church life. Kez played bass in worship and Al helps with kids ministry. They also lead The V a community group in Holland Village. Their main focus has been building community and showing people they have a true family in God.

Jacob and Yvonne Ng
Deacons

Jacob and Yvonne were found by God and saved by His sheer grace in their teenage years. The gospel brought transformation to their otherwise broken lives, and became their greatest treasure and passion. Both of them spend much of their time ministering to young people – Jacob has taught at 2 different polytechnics in Singapore and Yvonne has served as a campus ministry staff in a Christian organization. They are leading a community group in RHC that they deeply love, and delight in pointing others to Christ alone from God’s Word and encouraging them to live radically for the gospel.

Edward and Shuyi Sim
Deacons

Edward and Shuyi got married in 2006 and are proud parents of two lovely girls, Evangeline and Elizabeth. Shuyi enjoys cooking while Edward enjoys her cooking. Shuyi is a homemaker and Edward is lecturing at a tertiary institution. They currently lead a Mandarin homegroup together. God gave them a burden for the Chinese speaking people and they long to see gospel-centred churches planted for them in Singapore, Asia and beyond.

Rennie and Penny Soh
Deacons

Rennie and Penny joined RHC in August 2008 to immerse themselves in a gospel-centred environment to further deepen their walk with God. Finding opportunities to serve in God’s house wherever and whenever they can, they lead a setup team and while Penny finds joy in caring for young toddlers and infants, Rennie serves in the worship team at the drums and also as a worship leader. The couple have an eight-year-old princess, Velouria, a bundle of joy and constant activity who is usually seen scuttling around church premises on Sundays.

Paul and Karen WIlson
Deacons

The Lord brought Paul and Karen to Singapore in March 2009 and they have been active members since their first Sunday at The Civil Service College. They are Community Group Leaders and Karen is part of the worship team. Their passion is to help believers understand who they are in Christ and to live life to the fullest of His calling through discipleship and mentoring.

Daniel and Marja-Leena Yap
Deacons, Staff: Ministry Staff and Secretary

Daniel and his wife Marja-Leena have both served on board the ship Doulos and have three boys – Eliel, Nooa and Mika.
